The M5OD-R1 is a fully synchronized five speed manual transmission produced by Mazda. The transmission was first introduced for the 1988 model year in the Ford Ranger, Bronco II, and Aerostar. The transmission would be available in the Ford Ranger until its retirement following the 2011 model year. A HD version of the transmission, the M5OD-R1HD, is found behind applications equipped with Ford's 4.0L SOHC V-6. The HD configuration includes different gear ratios which are slightly taller than the standard M5OD.
